    November 03

A long journey ahead of me

    Nov 3rd. Thursday noon.
Rain keeps pouring outside of the window. The same gray sky.
I vaguely hear Bill Evan's "Waltz for Debbie" playing in my mind.
Everything seems so far away. Far behind the wet blurry window.

I have a bus to catch at 3:30pm from Vancouver Airport. It will take 4 hours to arrive in Seattle airport. It was a little mistake when I purchased the ticket. I forgot to change the departure city to Vancouver since I am going to be here. So now I have to suffer. To arrive in Seattle airport at 7:30pm and wait around 5 hours for the 3am flight to Taipei.

So the trip extended to a 24 hours marathon.

What I can do is keep up my breath and keep moving my one foot over the other.

    OK. I am going now.

Eight days of rain and my travel plan

Even New York's weather would not try to bore you.
For eight days, it has been raining. Not a ray of sunshine. Nada. There're some places getting flooded because of the constant pouring rain. Even though New York's got the most unpredictable weather, this is not so commonly seen.
The gloomy weather started getting to me in an imperceptable way while I quietly packing up my luggage for the trip. I look at the grey sky and the pouring rain. Strangely not having a thought of wishing this rain to go away.
Maybe it's because I AM going away. The rain doesn't have to.
I was dumbfounded when confronted with my black luggage which sits overt silently and empty on my bed.
To go away for a month and half seems to scare me a bit. I don't find flying over 12 hours across half a globe a delight idea. But this thing has came upon me. And I have to do it. No matter what.
So my travel plan is easy. I go to Vancouver in mid October. Then go to Taiwan in the beginning of Novermber. Then if all goes well, I might also visit south east China.
I haven't been back to Taiwan for a long time. I don't even know what the weather is like there in November and what kind of clothes I should take with me.
I tried to remember what it was like, those Novermbers back in Taiwan. I can't recall any.
But I still managed to stuff 2 medium sized luggages with clothes. I try to bring things that is as basic as possible. 2 pairs of shoes, 6 underwears, 10 pairs of socks, 4 jeans, 2 jackets, 1 sport shorts, a swimming trunk...etc.
Why a swimming trunk? I have no idea why I packed it, but I did. It sort of just slipped in there. It reminds me when I was in college I tried to go swimming once a week in the morning for a while. But I never got to become a good swimmer.
I am going away with my 2 luggages and leave this rain behind.
